Leo Vega returns for his 14th year on the NSU men’s soccer coaching staff. He is responsible for match-day tactical analysis.

Vega has an extensive playing and coaching background. He began his playing career in 1974 with Danubio FC of Uruguay. He has also spent two years with world renowned Club Athletico Penarol. He closed out his playing career by captaining Alto Peru and Club Athletico Rentistas, both of Uruguay. Since moving to South Florida, he has been a fixture on the local scene, winning the prestigious Superclubs U-19 and the Gold Coast Soccer Championship with several clubs.

 

Vega currently has a weekly soccer column in the el Sentinel, the Spanish division of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper. He also participates in a weekly radio show on Saturday nights on ESPN Radio, which is heard by over one million listeners worldwide.
