No. 1 Women’s Golf Team Finishes Fourth at Lady Paladin Invitational

The Sharks placed three golfers in the top-10.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The No. 1 Nova Southeastern women’s golf team placed three golfers in the top-10 and finished in fourth-place out of 15 teams in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University at the par-72 6,160-yard Furman University Golf Course.

No. 11 Liliana Cammisa (Fr., Alta Gracia, Cordoba, Argentina) was the top-Shark finishing tied for third–place (77-79-73—229). She played her lowest card (73) in the third and final round highlighted by three birdies and eleven even-holes.

The Sharks were paced by the third different golfer in as many tournaments, dating back to Sept. 24-25 when No. 3 Abbey Gittings (Jr., Tamworth, England) won the individual medalist at the Lady Falcon Invitational. Gitting’s victory was followed by No. 2 Daniela Ortiz (Fr., Morelia, Mexico) winning the individual crown at the Sharks Invitational Oct. 10-11.

At the Lady Paladin Invitational Gittings and Ortiz also saved their best-round for the third, carding 76 and 75, respectively. Gittings (79-78-76—233) finished the tournament tied for tenth-place with Amanda Steinhagen from Longwood.

Ortiz began the final-round in eighth-place and finished in seventh-place (80-76-75—231), nine-strokes off of tournament individual champion Charlotte Lorentzen from Georgia State (77-74-71—222).

The team leader board was separated by as a stroke as South Florida (315-316-302—933) wrestled the top-spot away from first and second-round leader East Tennessee St. (308-316-310—934). Christina Miller was the top-golfer from South Florida, she finished in second-place (82-75-70—227) thanks to her tournament low-round of two-under for a score of 70.  

Claudia Wolf (Sr., Igls, Austria) (86-84-86—256) and Chelsey Herbert (Fr., Cambridge, England) (83-86-88-257) round out the cards for the Sharks finishing tied for 59th-place and 64th-place, respectively.

The Lady Paladin concludes the fall season for the Sharks, the Sharks will play again Feb. 20-21 for the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla.
