FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Nova Southeastern women’s golf team participated in the “St. Jude Give Thanks Walk” in Palm Beach County. Over 350 people participated in the event, raising $60,000 for the kids of St. Jude.
Nationwide, 80 cities participated in the event on Nov. 19 to raise money for St. Jude. Collectively, more than 31,000 St. Jude supporters participated in the walk, raising more than $3.1 million.
On the golf course, the Sharks played an exceptional fall season, garnering the No. 1 national ranking. NSU finished fourth or better in all four of the tournaments it participated in, including a victory at the Shark Invitational Oct. 10-11.
Daniela Ortiz's (Fr., Morelia, Mexico) won that event for the Sharks and is currently the top-ranked player in the nation.
NSU also finished third out of 16 teams against some of the best Division I talent at the Yale Invitational back in September. Ortiz finished fourth at that event, while junior
Abbey Gittings (Tamworth, England) placed fifth for the Sharks. Gittings, currently No. 2 in the nation, won the Lady Falcon Invitational just two week earlier.
Liliana Cammisa (Fr., Alta Gracia, Cordoba, Argentina), who placed third at the Lady Paladin Invitational, currently holds the No. 10 ranking in the country.
