FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern senior outfielder
Andrew Durden (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) has been named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week in his first week as a Shark, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Durden led the Sharks to a 4-0 weekly mark, opening the season with wins over Northwood (2-1) and Albany State (13-2; 10-3; 6-3). Hitting leadoff, Durden batted .562 with three RBI and eight runs. He hit safely in every game and notched multiple hits in three.
He also scored at least one run in every contest, while driving in runs in three outings. Posting a 1.125 slugging percentage, Durden powered five extra base hits with three doubles and two home runs. He recorded a .562 on-base percentage and did not miss a beat playing centerfield.
Durden and the Sharks will return to action Tuesday, Feb. 8 in Miami Shores, Fla. to face Barry at 6 p.m.
