NSU Athletics Partners with WMEN 640 AM

640 Sports to broadcast men’s basketball games and a weekly talk show.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University athletics is proud to announce a new partnership with WMEN-640-AM. 640 Sports and NSU have agreed to a three-year broadcast deal that will include as many as 20 men’s basketball games per season and a weekly talk show that will highlight student-athletes and coaches across all of NSU’s 17 athletic teams.

“This is a big day for NSU athletics,” Athletic Director Michael Mominey said. “To have an all sports commercial radio station in South Florida partner with us is certainly a significant benchmark in our young history as an athletic department. It is a tremendous opportunity for us to not only promote our men’s basketball team, but allows us to showcase all of our highly competitive and successful Division II athletic programs to the local audience.”

640 Sports has agreed to broadcast 18 regular season home games as well as games played in the 2011-12 Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The first broadcast will be Dec. 3 when the Sharks take on South Florida rival Barry in the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center.

In addition to live game coverage, 640 Sports will also broadcast the Sharks Sports Wrap every Saturday morning beginning on Nov. 12 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The Sharks Sports Wrap will give the athletic department a chance to update fans on the past week’s results, highlight upcoming events, and put a spotlight on NSU student-athletes who excel in the classroom and in the community.

WMEN 640 AM is a 24-hour sports talk radio station serving Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade.

“640 Sports is proud to bring Nova Southeastern University basketball to sports radio listeners throughout South Florida,” said 640 Sports General Manager Steve Lapa. “Mike Mominey and his team are building an exciting athletic program in our very own backyard and 640 Sports is ready to help Nova Southeastern University make their mark on the South Florida Sports scene.”
