FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern men’s basketball power forward Iran Hollis (Jr., Hollywood, Fla.) has been named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for his performance in wins on the road against Palm Beach Atlantic and Tampa. This marks the first time NSU has won three SSC men’s basketball Player of the Week honors in a season.
Hollis averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds in a pair of Shark road victories last week. Hollis scorched the nets by shooting 73 percent (11-for-15) from the field and 92 percent (11-for-12) at the free throw line.
He opened the week with 13 points, seven rebounds, and an assist in just 19 minutes of a 78-50 win at Palm Beach Atlantic. He then notched a career-high 19 points, seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal in a 55-52 win at Tampa.
Hollis is the second Shark to take the honor this season after Teddy Tassy (Sr., Port-au-Prince, Haiti) was honored twice. The recognition also marks the first time the men’s basketball team has taken home the award in back-to-back weeks.
