NSU Baseball Announces Recruiting Class for 2012 Season

The Sharks are adding six pitchers and six position player.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team has released its recruiting class for the upcoming 2013 season. The Sharks are bringing in six position players and six pitchers.

Jose Rodriguez, a graduate-student transfer from the College of Charleston, hit .286 his junior year and .355 in his two seasons at Charleston. He was named to the 2011 Preseason All-SoCon Selection, after being named as a 2010 All-SoCon Team member. Rodriguez was drafted by the Twins in the 17th round in 2007.

Alex Kline, an incoming freshman out of Coral Glades HS, earned pitcher of the year and male athlete of the year at Coral Glades, finishing his senior season with a 0.90 ERA. Julian Loret de Mola is a sophomore transfer out of FAU and is another addition who made 13 appearances and pitched 16 innings for the Owls.

Brandon Sedell, a sophomore transfer from the University of Florida, had a .500 batting average last season and was named a First-Team All-American by Louisville Slugger in high school.

Tyler Draughon, a pitcher from West Broward HS, went 7-2 last season, pitching three complete games, two of which were shutouts. Alongside of Draughon, Brandon Valentine, a pitcher from John A. Ferguson HS, had a 1.40 ERA and was an all-county selection his senior year of high school. 

Colton Rogers, a pitcher from Coral Springs Charter, will also be looking to add depth to the pitching rotation this season for the Sharks. Another player looking to take the mound this year is Josh Glick, a pitcher from American Heritage Delray. There, he pitched 32 innings and recorded 42 strikeouts and seven saves his senior season.

Rounding out the high school recruits is Kavan Thompson from Central Melbourne Catholic School. Thompson held a .410 batting average with four homeruns his senior year and was named district player of the year.  Finally, Casey Kopec, a left handed pitcher from North Broward Prep HS pitched 56 innings and recorded 65 strikeouts and was named to the second team all-county team his senior season.

Another college transfer is, Brooks Fleming, a junior from Palm Beach Atlantic.  Fleming hit .336 last season and made 31 starts. Rounding out the 2012 recruiting class is William Rudolph, a junior from Broward College. Rudolph batted .320 during his career at Broward and was named All-Conference before crossing College Ave.

These twelve recruits are joining a Sharks team that has made consecutive NCAA South Region Tournament in the past two seasons.
