FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern men’s soccer goalkeeper
Andrea Giombetti (So., Rome, Italy) has been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Giombetti earned two conference wins in goal, including a shutout versus No. 1 Lynn. Giombetti began his week with two saves in a 2-1 road win at Florida Southern. The lone goal surrendered by the keeper came on a Moccasin penalty kick.
Giombetti then came up with four big saves in a 1-0 victory over the Fighting Knights. Coming into the week, the previously unbeaten Knights ranked in the top-two of every SSC team offensive statistical category.
Giombetti and the Sharks will return to the pitch Wednesday for a road SSC matchup with Rollins at 5 p.m.
