FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern women’s basketball guard
Meixandra Porter (Sr., Chantilly, Va.) was selected as part of the Women’s Division-II Bulletin Super-16, a preseason ranking of the best players in the nation.
Women’s Division-II Bulletin selected the two best players from each of the NCAA D-II regions. Porter was chosen to represent the South Region alongside No. 21 Alabama-Huntsville’s Jasmine Hammon.
“Because Meix’ had a great junior season and helped our program finish the year strong, she is deserving of the Super-16 pre-season recognition,” says head coach LeAnn Freeland. “She is one of our hardest workers and is always looking for ways to get better.”
Along with All-South Region accolades, Porter earned All-Sunshine State Conference First-Team in her NSU debut season last year. The starting guard scored in double-figures in 25-of-28 games played, all of which she started in. On the year, she averaged team-highs with 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and three assists per game.
The women’s basketball team will begin its 2012-13 regular season against Palm Beach Atlantic at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.
