RESULTS

ST. LEO, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern women's golf team won the Saint Leo Invitational at the par-72 Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club Tuesday, shooting a +10 (300-286--586) and winning by 16 strokes.

Abbey Gittings (Sr., Tamworth, England) won the individual title, the first of her senior campaign. Gittings held a share of the lead going into the final round after shooting a 71 Monday. She repeated her score Tuesday to take home the title. She finished the tournament at -2 (71-71—142) and the only golfer to finish the tournament under par.

"This was a great preview to the SSC Championship, which will be at the Lake Jovita Country Club as well," said head coach Amanda Brown. "It was another great team win for us, and I'm proud of Abbey for adding another individual title to her record."

Tying for second place overall was Linnea Johansson (Fr., Vaxjo, Sweden) and Liliana Cammisa (So., Cordoba, Argentina), who each finished the tournament at -2 (146). Johansson shot a 76 on Monday and had the best round of any Shark Tuesday, shooting a 70. Cammisa also made great strides in her second day. The reigning individual Sunshine State Conference champion shot a 75 on Monday and a 71 on Tuesday.

Daniela Ortiz (So., Morelia, Mexico) claimed 14th place overall with a final score of 152. Ortiz shot a 78 on day one and improved four strokes to a 74 for the final round. Not only did the Sharks' have the three best finishers in the tournament, but they were one of only two schools to place four golfers in the top-15.

Rounding out the Sharks was Rachel Lewis (Jr., Cardiff, Wales), who claimed 26th place with a score of 158 (79-79).

The Sharks will finish their fall season on Oct. 26 in the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
