FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After serving six years as the Manager of Marketing and Special Events, Director of Athletics Michael Mominey announced today the promotion of Kim Carbo as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Development and Fundraising for the Nova Southeastern University Department of Athletics effective Oct. 2012.

“Kim has done a tremendous job over the past several years demonstrating her commitment to the department and the university,” Mominey said. “She is certainly deserving of this promotion as she exemplifies the core values of NSU and the department. I look forward to working with her closely in the areas of advancement, development and alumni relations. We have high expectations and goals in these particular areas and feel that with past success in these, we will continue to elevate the athletic program into one of the best programs in NCAA Division II.”

Carbo will be responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies to increase fan attendance, revenue, and both internal and external support for each of NSU’s 17 intercollegiate teams and the overall athletic department. Her duties will also include the oversight of the Shark Club, the official booster club of NSU Athletics, sponsorship initiatives, game promotions, and community engagement.

She will also continue her responsibility in coordinating and managing the traditional, special, and social events for the athletic department. In addition departmental social events, Carbo’s major annual events include the Athletics Awards Banquet, NSU Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, Athletics Scholarship Golf Tournament, Midnight Madness, National Girls & Women in Sports Day, conference championship banquets, and national championship celebrations.

In her previous six years, Carbo played an integral part in creating the NSU Athletics Hall of Fame which began in 2007 inducting the first-ever five-member class. She also contributed to the construction and design of the HOF display in the Don Taft University Center. She has also been instrumental in helping establish the Tony Segreto Athletics Scholarship Fund collaborating the retired NBC-6 news anchor’s 40-year career celebration. In 2011, she once again helped create an annual event, this time “A Night in Roma,” which is an Italian festival and now a permanent revenue stream for Segreto’s Athletics Scholarship Fund.

She has extensive marketing and public relations experience having worked for the Miami Fusion, Columbus Crew and NY/NJ MetroStars (now NY Red Bulls) of Major League Soccer and the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League. In addition, she worked for the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Sports Information Department.

Carbo came to NSU in 2004 as a Sports Information Assistant. In 2005, she assumed the role of Coordinator of Marketing and Special Events and was later promoted Manager of Marketing and Special Events in 2007.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from The Ohio State University in 2003, and was also a member of the varsity women's soccer team at OSU. She earned her Master's degree in sports management in 2006 from NSU and is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership from NSU’s Abraham S. Fischler School of Education.
