PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have each been ranked in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division 2 Swimming and Diving Team poll.
The men have been ranked 12th in the early poll, and are 2-0 to start the year. The Sharks have eight swimmers who currently hold top-25 times, including all the top relays. Oskar Nordstrand (Sr. Stockholm, Sweden) has the highest ranking on the men’s side in the 1,650-yard freestyle with an NCAA “B” qualifying time of 16:12.51.\
The women are 15th, having received this honor by having a meet record of 2-0 as well. Five swimmers have current top-25 times in the country, including all relays. NSU holds the fastest 800-freestyle relay in the country. Erin Black (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.) was named SSC Swimmer of the Week for the week of Oct. 22. Black has had NCAA “B” qualifying times in the 200-, 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles.
The CSCAA D2 Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. The rankings are voted on by six CSCAA member coaches, and will be released three times during 2012-13 season.
