NSU Baseball Holds Inaugural Golf Tournament

120 golfers attend event

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team recently held its Inaugural NSU Baseball Golf Tournament to raise money for the program.

“The Inaugural NSU Baseball Golf Classic was a huge success of bringing to fruition a great event that will help the vitality of this program for years to come,” said NSU baseball head coach Greg Brown. “This event has been the culmination of a lot of hard work that unified this great program with our alumni, former coaches and extended Shark family. I am very proud of what we accomplished and what this will be in the future.”

Held at the Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation, Fla., 120 golfers and over 25 Shark baseball alumni attended the event. Professional players J.D. Martinez, Mike Fiers, Miles Mikolas and Nick Avila were there, as well as former coach and current NSU Athletic director Michael Mominey.

So too were NSU Hall of Famers Felipe Suarez, Sean McFadden and former coach Sonny Hansley. Other notable alumni included Dr. Steve Thomas, Ryan Anshuetz, Raul DeCastro and Bryan Valencia.

Following the tournament, a banquet was held at the club, featuring raffle prizes and a silent auction.
