FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Outside hitter Sydney Cook (Miami, Fla.) was named to the Sunshine State Conference All-Newcomer Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Cook played in all 32 matches and led the Sharks in kills in her first season on the squad, with 317. She was also second on the team in blocks, with 50. In the SSC, Cook ranked 12th in kills per set (2.71).
“We’re very excited for Sydney’s success this season,” said head coach Steve Wilcosky. “This recognition is simply a reflection of her hard work and dedication to Sharks volleyball, and is only the beginning of the recognition she’ll have throughout her career.”
Cook is the first Shark to be named to the All-Newcomer team since 2009, when middle blocker Carly Perschnick received those honors.
