Baseball and SAAC Team Up to Deliver Gifts to Children at Local Hospital

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University’s baseball team, head coach Greg Brown, members of SAAC and Santa Claus traveled to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital on Tuesday Dec. 11, to deliver gifts to children in need.

The team and Santa brought toys from room-to-room and delivered them to each child. The children got to spend quality time and take pictures with Santa Claus on his visit.

"This is a toy drive that is very dear to me as it gives us the opportunity to bring joy to ailing children,” said head baseball coach Brown. “For that special time, no matter how brief, they get to forget about whatever infliction they have and spend some time with Santa and our student-athletes. I think that our student-athletes and staff that got to participate for the first time had an experience that they never will forget and I look forward to continuing to grow our efforts and bring in an even bigger collection next year."

NSU Baseball has been donating to Toys for Tots since the arrival of coach Brown. Brown and his family have been collecting and donating toys for over 13 years and this year SAAC decided to work collectively with NSU baseball to provide even more cheer to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

“My time at the Joe DiMaggio children's hospital was something I will never forget," said baseball's Patrick Kulick. "To see the looks on the faces of the children when they received a gift or even just saw Santa was absolutely priceless. It is definitely something I look forward to doing again next year.”

All of the toys were collected and delivered from the athletic teams and staff. The toys were abundant and all remaining toys will be delivered next week to Kids in Distress and Jack & Jill on the behalf of the entire athletic department.
