Volleyball Tabbed Eighth in SSC Preseason Poll

The Sharks received 64 points in the poll, three behind Barry.

WINTER PARK, Fla. The Sunshine State Conference released the 2012 volleyball preseason poll Wednesday with Nova Southeastern coming in eighth as ranked by the conference’s coaches and sports information directors.
 
The Sharks return a core group of player’s from last season’s team, including All-South Region honorable mention selection Danielle Graham (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio). Fellow starting seniors Jordan Pappas (Naperville, Ill.) and Paige Boivin (Plainfied, Ill) also returning for one final campaign in a Sharks uniform. The 2012 squad also features four newcomers that will provide depth to a Sharks’ squad looking to make an impact in the SSC.
 
Tampa, a NCAA Final Four team last season, picked up 192 points to garner the top spot. The Spartans were also slotted second in the AVCA preseason poll released Tuesday afternoon. Rollins garnered 164 points and the second spot in the conference, as well as obtaining a 22nd ranking in the AVCA poll. Eckerd rounded out the top-three with 148 points. The Tritons were ranked three spots ahead of the Tars in the AVCA poll at No. 19.
 
Florida Southern (134), Saint Leo (91), Lynn (88) and Barry (67) occupied spots four through seven, respectively. Florida Tech rounded out the poll with 24 votes.
 
NSU hits the hardwood for the first time this season Aug. 31 against Merrimack as part of the sixth annual Shark Classic at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center. The Sharks will also face Texas A&M International, No. 12 Wayne State and No. 25 Wheeling Jesuit that weekend.
