FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Both
Abbey Gittings (Sr., Tamworth, England) and
Linnea Johansson (Fr., Vaxjo, Sweden) from the Nova Southeastern women's golf team made the cut in the British Amateur Wednesday. The top-64 in the 144-player field advanced to the matchplay stages beginning Thursday.
"I'm incredibly proud of both Abbey and Linnea", said head women's golf coach Amanda Brown. "Making it to matchplay in the British Am is quite an accomplishment and it demonstrates their level of talent. I wish them the best in the rest if the tournament."
Johansson finished eighth in the field during the qualifying rounds, scoring a 145 (70, 75), just four strokes back of the winner Su-Hyun Oh from Australia. Gittings finished in 43rd with a score of 151 (76, 75), heading into matchplay.
Johansson is paired up with 57th place finisher Luna Sobron, a native of Spain. Gittings is paired with Ileen Domela Nieuwenhuis from the Netherlands, who finished 22nd in the qualifying stages, from the Netherlands.
