FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swimming and diving head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The Sharks will participate in nine meets throughout the regular season along with the SSC Championships and two intrasquad meets.
"We have a solid schedule that includes not only our conference opponents, but also some very competitive teams from Division II and the state of Florida," Bonewit-Cron said. "We are looking forward to racing tough this season to prepare us for the Sunshine State Conference meet and the NCAA Championships."
The season will start with an informal intrasquad meet at the NSU Aquatic Complex on Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. in preparation for the annual All-Florida Invitational hosted by Florida Sept. 27-29. The three-day meet in Gainesville will feature teams from around the state including the meet host Gators, who have a storied tradition of producing Olympic swimmers.
The Sharks will then return home on Oct. 18 to host a young Florida Tech program to open conference competition. That meet will be followed by one with another SSC member the following day (Oct. 19) on the road at Saint Leo and then at Rollins on Nov. 2.
The next three meets will be hosted at the NSU Aquatic Complex with the Sharks facing off first with the highly-touted Indian River program on Nov. 7 and then Tampa on Nov. 23. Then the Sharks will host the Fourth Annual Shark Invitational Dec. 13-17. The four-day meet will feature several teams from around the Sunshine State Conference and the South Region.
After the winter break, NSU will be back on the road to face Florida Southern in Lakeland on Jan. 11 followed by the final home dual meet against another new SSC program in Lynn at the NSU Aquatic Complex on Jan. 24.
The Sunshine State Conference Championships will be held Feb. 19-22 at the YMCA in Orlando, Fla. where the Sharks will look to challenge for another conference title. Those who qualify will then advance on to the NCAA Division II Championship March 12-15 hosted in Geneva, Ohio.
Upon their return from nationals, the Sharks will host one final informal intrasquad meet at the NSU Aquatic Complex on Apr 19 to wrap up a fun-filled season of strong competition.
