FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Nova Southeastern University rowing head coach
Heather Barney has announced the hiring of Devin Fay as assistant coach.
"I am thrilled to have Devin here at NSU," said Barney. "He's had some tremendous experiences as a coach at some of the most highly respected rowing programs in the country, and he brings a ton of energy and motivation to make NSU rowing even better."
Fay brings a wealth of experience to NSU at the collegiate and national team level. Fay's most recent coaching experience came at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where he served as the assistant women's coach. There, Fay helped lead the crew to the NCAA National Championships and personally recruited four members of the varsity-8 squad.
In the summer of 2012, Fay earned valuable experience serving as the Assistant Lightweight Coach for the United State National Team 8 . Fay specialized in utilizing various technology for Team USA and was responsible for testing and analysis.
Previous coaching stops include serving as Assistant Lightweight Coach at Cornell, graduate assistant coach at Smith College and the head rowing coach position at Taylor Allderdice HS in Pittsburgh.
Fay received his bachelor's degree at Ithaca College and obtained a Masters of Science in exercise and sports studies at Smith College in 2011.
Fay's hiring completes the coaching staff for the upcoming 2014-15 season, joining first-year coach Barney and graduate assistant
Rachel Benders.
"I also want to give huge credit to our graduate assistant coach Rachel Benders, who took on a lot of extra work and responsibility over the past several months as we worked to complete our coaching staff," stated Barney. "I am extremely excited to see what both Devin and Rachel will contribute this year towards helping our women to achieve their goals."
