Volleyball Volunteers With the Victory Living Program

The Sharks spent time with the adults for their Thanksgiving dinner.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University volleyball team gave back to the community by helping cook and serving in The Victory Living Program kitchen.

The Victory Living Program provides services and opportunities to persons with disabilities so they may experience life as independently and rich as possible. The program also hosts the Sharks' most loyal fan base, always seen in the NSU Arena during home sporting events.

The team volunteered at the Victory Living Adult Program and helped cooked, serve and partake in a Thanksgiving dinner and engaged in arts and crafts.

Ashlyn Hill (Fr., Plano, Texas)  and Devyn Main (Port Charlotte, Fla.) took the initiative to set up the night and stated, "They always come to our games so we went to talk to Bobby, the lady in charge of their program, and asked how we can get more involved with what they do. She then invited us over for Thanksgiving because that would be a great way to interact with them the whole day."

"It really showed us all that everybody has something to be thankful for. When we got there, they had us fill out a leaf of what we are all thankful for and when we compared ours to theirs, it was evident we are all thankful for the same things and we all have the same love for life."

Head coach Jennifer King states, "It's amazing to have a group of athletes who want to give themselves and their time. The Victory Living Program has brought so many of their Adult Day Training students to our matches, and this gave the girls a great chance to give back to them!"
