Dan King Joins Shark Volleyball Staff

King brings over 15 years of coaching experience to NSU

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University athletic department is pleased to announce the addition of assistant coach Dan King to the Sharks' volleyball staff.

King comes to Fort Lauderdale after four seasons as an assistant coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State. Prior to that, he gained experience within the Sunshine State Conference as an assistant at Saint Leo, also for four years. He helped lead the Lions to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, in 2006, and followed that up with an appearance in each season after. In 2005, he was an assistant coach for a 28-7 Webber International team.

"I am excited to return to my home state and thrilled to be doing so at Nova Southeastern University," he said. "I would like to thank Michael Mominey and Kelley Kish for the opportunity to return to the Sunshine State Conference, and I look forward to continuing the tradition of success they have built within the athletics department."

King also brings with him many years of head coaching experience, including four seasons at Lakeland Senior High School, and for nearly a decade with USA Volleyball. As an undergraduate, he received degrees from both Polk State College (Lakeland, Fla.) and Geneva College (Beaver Falls, Pa.).

Over his coaching career, King has produced many award winners, including five AVCA DII All-Americans and a Daktronics All-American, while 20 of his student-athletes have garnered All-Conference nods. His collegiate teams have had an overall record of 189-109, including one SSC Championship, Saint Leo's first in program history in 2010.

"Dan brings a wealth of experience and success in training student-athletes," said head coach Jennifer King. "Under his training, a multitude of student-athletes have received individual conference, region, and national awards, and I look forward to adding our Shark volleyball players to that list."
