WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University baseball team had two athletes named to the 2014 All-Sunshine State Conference team, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.

Alvin Swoope (Fr., Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and Mario Urdaneta (Jr., Ocala, Fla.) were the two Sharks to receive honors, both earning All-SSC First Team honors. NSU was one of five teams in the league to garner multiple first-team honors.

In his first season with the Sharks, Swoope didn't waste any time picking up his first all-conference award as the first-team All-SSC shortstop. A transfer from Florida State University, Swoope posted a .338 average while slugging .448 in his freshman campaign. Swoope also collected a team-high 52 hits.

Urdaneta, a transfer from College of Central Florida, was selected to his first all-conference team, being tabbed All-SSC First Team as the designated hitter. Urdaneta boasted an average of .345 while driving in 26 runs. Urdaneta finished with an impressive 28 walks while slugging .460.
