Men's Golf Voted Third in Preseason GCAA Poll

Sharks receive one first-place vote, slot just two points shy of second

GCAA Preseason Poll

ORLANDO, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern University men's golf team, returning six players from its national runner-up finish of a year ago, has been voted third in the Division II GCAA Coaches Preseason Poll.

The Sharks received one first place vote and 392 total points, finishing just two points behind No. 2 CSU-Monterey Bay. Defending national champion and NSU's Sunshine State Conference rival, Barry, took 16 of the 18 possible first-place votes and 438 total points to rank first.

"We are excited to kick off the year in a few weeks," said head coach Ryan Jamison. "This will give us an opportunity to square off with a lot of the teams in the poll and use it as a true measuring stick."

The Sharks have added four newcomers to make up what is now a 10-man roster for the upcoming season, set to begin in late September. Of those back, senior Oscar Lengdèn (Helsingborg, Sweden) and juniors Santiago Gomez (Armenia, Colombia) and Hunter O'Mahony (Jupiter, Fla.) were among the quintet that competed at last year's NCAA Championships.

"Our returners plus all of our newcomers are extremely competitive and I honestly can't wait to turn them loose," said Jamison.

Chico State, with the other remaining first-place vote, placed fourth in the poll, while another SSC school, Lynn, rounded out the top five. In all, seven conference schools were ranked in the top 25.
