Women's Basketball Participates in 9/11 Day of Service

Players and staff helped out at Snyder Park

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team and staff took part in the 9/11 Day of Service by visiting Snyder Park and participating in park cleanup.

Ten members of the team and the three coaches were tasked with helping to pull up the air potato plant, an invasive weed that is toxic to other plants and grows six-eight inches in a day.

"The 9/11 Day of Service was a great way for our team to get involved and give back to our local community," said head coach LeAnn Freeland. "We had the opportunity to volunteer at Snyder Park in Fort Lauderdale.  While at the park, our team helped the park ranger rid the wooded areas of the invasive air potato plant.  It was great to see our team come together and work hard for the park service."

"The NSU 9/11 Day of Service enhanced team chemistry and expanded our knowledge about plants while helping the park environment," added senior forward and team SAAC representative Jasmine Wilkins (Miami).
