SAAC Starts Season on High Note With First Shark Night

SAAC begins building bridges through Shark Night initiative.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee started off the fall season on a high note with their first Shark Night of the 2014-15 season.

This season, SAAC has pushed the initiative of building bridges to other student groups on campus to form a closer #SharkNation on campus and at Sharks home events. The first Shark Night, at men's soccer's home-opening 6-2 win over Ave Maria, was a huge success.

The event began with a tailgate barbeque hosted by the brothers of Phi Gamma Delta. The BBQ ended with one of the largest student walk-ins in NSU Soccer Complex history, which largely made up the nearly 700 audience members for the game. In past Shark Nights, student-athletes showed up in droves to improve the in-game environment during home games. This Shark Night topped them all, as students from all types of groups on campus came out to create one of the loudest crowds in NSU history.

The Shark Night also served as an avenue to raise money for Make-A-Wish South Florida. NSU SAAC had a successful fundraiser and will carry the momentum into upcoming Shark Nights. Fans are encouraged to come out for two remaining Shark Nights this fall, beginning with the Oct. 8 women's soccer match vs. Barry at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Nov. 7 volleyball match against Florida Southern at 7 p.m.
