Cross Country Starts Strong at USF Invitational

RESULTS

TAMPA, Fla.
– The Nova Southeastern University cross country teams started the 2014 campaign Friday at the USF Invitational.
 
"I was pleased with how the meet went," said head coach Bryan Hagopian. "The women performed well and the men ran outstanding, this was a great way to start our season."
 
On the women's side, Rose Howell(Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) was the lead runner, finishing with a time of 19:45.79 in sixth place among non DI runners. Howell was followed by Aimee Sims (Sr., St. Anne, Ill.) in 17th place with a time of 20:22.67. Stephanie De La Guarda (Fr., Miami, Fla.) wrapped up runners in the top 25 with a time of 20:43.02. Therese Moberg (Jr., Oestavall, Sweden) claimed 30th overall with a time of 20:52.45 in her first race as a Shark. Kelsey Fox (So., Brookfield, Wisc.) and Katey CoDyre (Jr., Bowmanville, Canada) finished with times of 21:21.99 and 21:26.72, respectively.
 
On the men's side, Wade White (So., East Stroudsburg, Pa.) led the Sharks with an 8K time of 26:47.35 in 15th place. Right behind White in 16th was Thomas Ingalls (So., St. George, Utah), crossing in a time of 26:47.66. 2013 All-Region honoree Long Tran (Jr., Saigon, Vietnam) claimed 24th with a time of 27:06.92. Benjamin Manuel (So., Willemstad, Curacao) claimed 33rd overall, crossing the finish line in 27:26.93. Newcomer Lucas Ruiz (Jr., Tucson, Ariz.) began his Shark career with a finish of 27:55.78. Also beginning his career at NSU was Ian McQuate (Fr., Keaau, Hawaii), who clocked in at 28:16.39.
 
The Sharks will return to Tampa in a week, running in the Tampa Early Bird Classic on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
