ESPN3 NCAA Division II Basketball Game of the Week

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University, and the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center, have been selected as the site and venue for an upcoming exclusive ESPN3 national broadcast as the NCAA Division II Basketball Game of the Week in mid-January.
The state-of-the-art 4,500-seat arena will be host to both ends of the NSU's women's and men's doubleheader against Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern on Saturday, Jan. 16. The women's game begins at 2 p.m., followed by the men, scheduled to tip off at approximately 4 p.m. Both will be carried live in their entirety on the ESPN3 network at the links above.
"It will be a tremendous day for NSU and for our campus to be featured on ESPN as the Division II Game of the Week," said NSU Director of Athletics
Michael Mominey. "We are always excited to promote our athletic program on a national stage, and this is really a great opportunity to highlight our institution. It should be two highly-competitive games on the court between two outstanding programs in NSU and Florida Southern. We are proud to represent the Sunshine State Conference in this featured event."
As part of the ESPN3 televised games, there will be a host of activities throughout the day. Don't forget that anyone with a Shark Card (faculty, staff, administration and students) receive free admission to the game! Below is a full list of what to expect this Saturday for all those in attendance.
- -- 640 Sports will be live on campus from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. for a live remote and will be conducting games and activities for the first two hours
- -- The first 400 fans will receive an NSU Sharks T-shirt
- -- UGC Greek Performance Challenge at halftime of each event - $200 goes to the winning performance
- -- Greek Life Challenge - $100 goes to the Greek organization with the highest percentage in attendance
- -- NSU Athletics is hosting several groups on Saturday including G1 Sports Organization, Davie Elementary, Broward County Special Olympics and Cooper City Optimist
- -- NSU Athletics is also offering free admission to all Alvin Sherman Library cardholders
- -- Saturday's Club Room Game Day guest will be the Shepard Broad School of Law
This will be the first time that SSC basketball has been highlighted on ESPN3 since the respective title games of the 2014-15 conference championship in Kissimmee, Florida, while last season's SSC soccer championship matches were also featured on the network in November. In addition to a women's preseason exhibition against Miami this season, the most recent national broadcast involving NSU was when the Shark men traveled to Fort Myers to take on Florida Gulf Coast on ESPN3 in November of 2014. This will be the second time the NSU women have been a participant in the DII National Game of the Week, having also had a regular season game on Feb. 9, 2013 chosen as such, against Florida Southern in Lakeland.
