Softball Brings on Taylor Jonas as Assistant Coach

Jonas spent three years playing for head coach Julie LeMaire at Emporia

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University softball head coach Julie LeMaire has announced the addition of assistant coach Taylor Jonas to her staff.

Jonas, a three-time all-conference performer, played for LeMaire three out of her four years at Emporia State University. She will assist with all facets of the program and specifically provide expertise within the infield and batter's box.

"I was fortunate to coach such a great a student-athlete and team player and now I get to work with Taylor at the next level," said LeMaire. "I look forward to her bringing that same loyalty, dedication and passion for the game to the members of our team here at Nova."

"I am grateful for the opportunity to not only coach here but to coach under Julie and continue to learn," added Jonas.

The four-year starting second baseman was a member of the 2012 Emporia team that went undefeated in MIAA play (20-0) and won the postseason conference tournament. Jonas participated in four consecutive regional appearances and helped lead the Hornets to the second highest double play total in NCAA Division II history with 42 in the 2014 season.

The Augusta, Kansas native served as LeMaire's student assistant during 2014-15, which was her final season at Emporia, after suffering a career-ending injury during her senior year.

Jonas received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Emporia and is currently pursuing her master's degree in health and human performance.
