Sharks Sign Local Standout, Osceola, for 2017-18

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team and head coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry have announced their second fall signee for the 2017-18 season with American Heritage guard, Skyla Osceola.

The 5-8 guard was named All-Broward County Honorable Mention during her sophomore season and sat out her junior season due to injury. Through the first five games this season, Osceola helped lead American Heritage to a 5-0 start averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the three-point line.  Her team recently won the Naples Barron Tournament, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.

"Skyla's competitive nature and basketball IQ are evident when watching her play for five minutes," said Freeland-Curry. "When I saw her play her sophomore year I was impressed with her presence on the floor and surprised to learn she was only a sophomore. I see her as a natural leader because of her strong personality and clear vision for success. She is a complete player and does everything from bringing the ball up against pressure, controlling the boards, taking charges, and knocking down long-range clutch three's. Skyla is also a very good student and is disciplined in all ways on and off the court. Our coaching staff and players are excited to announce Skyla Osceola is a Shark."
