FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – For the second time in as many seasons and fourth overall in program history, the Nova Southeastern women's soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament. Following a 12-3-3 campaign, the Sharks locked up the No. 3 seed in the South Region and will meet West Florida of the Gulf South Conference in the opening round Friday at 2 p.m. ET in Saint Leo, Florida.
If the Sharks are able to get past the Argonauts, a rematch of the SSC Championship and third meeting overall with Saint Leo will be in store this Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Sharks are one of four programs from the loaded Sunshine State Conference to crack the field, collecting a 2-1 victory over the region's top seed Barry this past Friday in the SSC Tournament semifinal round. In addition to the Buccaneers and Lions, Rollins returns to the tourney for the first time since its deep run in 2014.
The winner of Nova Southeastern's side of the bracket will meet the winner that comes out of Miami Shores, Florida. The Bucs were awarded a bye to the round of 32, where they will await either the fourth-seeded Tars or fifth-seeded Lee.
Following the South Region Championship held on Friday, November 18, the region's representative will collide with the champion out of the Southeast Region. The national quarterfinals are scheduled for Sunday, November 20 before the Final Four and national championship will be played out at Swope Park in Kansas City, Missouri on December 1 and 3.
