MELBOURNE, Fla. – Two exceptional student-athletes from Nova Southeastern University were picked to receive the Sunshine State Conference Player of The Week award in their respective competitions, as publicized by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Women's tennis player
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and men's basketball player
Harrison Goodrick (Jr., Sydney, Australia) each obtained their first weekly conference award of the year. They were both recognized for their remarkable work against No. 1 Armstrong State and No. 12 Barry, respectively.
Boczova is this week's SSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors, first of this season. Boczova played Lena Lutzeiner from No. 1 Armstrong State. According to the latest update on ITA National DII individual singles rankings, Lutzeiner is ranked No. 4 nationally. Boczova, who is not ranked in singles, defeated her 6-3 and 6-0 on Friday afternoon. Although No. 1 Armstrong defeated the No. 7 Sharks in the end, Boczova was the only NSU student-athlete to win in the singles match in the contest.
Goodrick is awarded SSC Defensive Player of the Week after leading NSU defensively last week. The Aussie center scored 21 points, pulled in nine rebounds, and had three blocked shots and three assists against Tampa this past Wednesday. In his follow-up performance, Goodrick scored 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds (all defensive), had nine assists and two steals as the Sharks took down the Bucs, 105-91.
