Rower Hannah DiLorenzo Encouraging Rowing for a Cure at Every Meter Matters Event

The event will be held on March 19 and all proceeds will benefit Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University rower Hannah DiLorenzo is encouraging rowing for a cure by hosting the "Every Meter Matters" event on Saturday, March 19 to raise cancer awareness and collect donations to benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation.

"I wanted to do something that would bring all cancer supporters together in a way that was never done before at NSU," said DiLorenzo. "Every Meter Matters is a non-profit event to show support for those effected by cancer."

The event, being held at the Alvin Sherman Library quad from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, will have music, food giveaways and more. The NSU rowing team will also be onsite for a meet-and-greet as well as to teach attendees how to row. Individuals will also have the opportunity to race against the team or their friends and family.

"The NSU rowing team would love to interact with the NSU population and local community and teach them such a unique sport while rowing for a cause," added DiLorenzo. "All donations will go directly to Joe DiMaggio's Pediatric Oncology unit and be used toward the treatment and recovery of current pediatric patients."

The disease has hit DiLorenzo on a personal level as her father was diagnosed with stage 4 blood cancer in 2015.

"After my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 blood cancer last year, I experienced first-hand the struggles of treatment and the support that was necessary for the patients," said DiLorenzo. "I really wanted to do everything I could to help families like mine in unfortunate situations."

In the case of poor weather, the event will be held in the Don Taft University Center Spine.
