No. 6 Men's Golf Selected for 12th Straight NCAA Postseason Bid

Sharks will be the South's No. 5 seed in 20-team South/Southeast field

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 6 Nova Southeastern University men's golf team begins the road towards defending last year's National Championship after being selected on Friday to be part of the 2016 NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional, as the No. 5 seed in the South.

The title defense starts on Monday, May 2, and Friday's announcement cements the program's 12th consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason. Twenty teams, 10 from the South and 10 from the Southeast, will descend upon the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, including 50 percent of the South coming from the Sunshine State Conference.

In addition to the Sharks, No. 2 Lynn, No. 3 Florida Southern, No. 4 Saint Leo and No. 7 Barry will be part of the South field, along with No. 5 West Florida, No. 8 Lee, No. 14 North Alabama, No. 17 West Georgia and Miles (all rankings come courtesy of another Friday announcement, the latest Bushnell Golfweek DII Coaches Poll). The South's seeded order is as follows: Lynn, Saint Leo, UWF, FSC, NSU, Barry, Lee, UWG, UNA and Miles.

The Southeast portion of the proceedings is made up of, in order of seed: Flagler, USC-Aiken, Carson-Newman, Columbus State, Georgia Southwestern State, Lincoln Memorial, Limestone, Young Harris, North Greenville and Lander. Of those, ranked nationally are No. 11 USC-Aiken, No. 12 Flagler, No. 15 Carson-Newman, No. 16 GSW, No. 19 Columbus State and No. 22 Lincoln Memorial.

Additionally, two individuals from Delta State and one each from Clayton State, Coker, Florida Tech, Mount Olive, Tusculum and Valdosta State will compete for the individual crown at Howey-in-the-Hills.

The South/Southeast Super Regional event is made up of three 18-hole days, May 2-4. Following the completion of the 54 holes, the top five teams (as well the highest-finishing two golfers not on one of those teams) move on to this year's DII National Championship, scheduled for May 17-21 in Denver at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.
