INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 5 Nova Southeastern University women's golf team will be appearing in the NCAA postseason for the 14th consecutive time, as the No. 4 seed in the 2016 NCAA Super South Regional, to be held in Pensacola May 2-4.
The Sharks have participated in postseason play every year since moving up to the Division II level in 2003. They will be part of an extremely competitive and successful 12-team field that is scheduled to play three days of 18 holes apiece at the Marcus Pointe Golf Club.
Of the top nine teams as measured by Golfstat's head-to-head rankings, eight will be at this event, including all of the top five (while all 12 are in the service's top 25). Rollins, Barry and Florida Tech, all too from the Sunshine State Conference, are 1-2-3 according to Golfstat and are seeded as such in Monday's selection.
NSU is the fourth seed and No. 5 by Golfstat, while West Florida is the fifth seed and Golfstat's No. 8. Here are the remaining seven teams in order of seed 6-12, with their H2H rankings in parentheses: Montevallo (No. 4), Saint Leo (No. 7), Lynn (No. 9), Lee (No. 15), Flagler (No. 14), Armstrong State (No. 23) and Limestone (No. 25).
Also participating are six individuals, two from Florida Southern, and one each from Erskine, Mount Olive, UNC Pembroke and West Georgia.
The top three teams from the South, along with those advancing from the Central (Axtell, Nebraska), East (Springfield, Illinois) and West (Stockton, California) will compete at the 2016 NCAA DII National Championships, May 18-21 in Aurora, Colorado at CommonGround Golf Course. The lowest three individuals that aren't from the aforementioned 12 teams moving on from each regional will qualify for nationals as well.
