FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 9 Nova Southeastern University baseball team (31-13, 14-4 SSC) has been selected the second seed in the first
NCAA South Region poll, put together by the NCAA South Region voting committee.
After an 11-10 start, the Sharks have won 20 of their last 23 games, including six series sweeps over Eckerd, Saint Leo, Barry, Palm Beach Atlantic, Rollins, and Embry-Riddle. NSU will travel to No. 15 Florida Southern this weekend, a team that is currently seventh in the first NCAA South Region poll.
Atop the NCAA South Region poll are the Tampa Spartans, while West Florida, West Alabama, West Georgia, Delta State, Florida Southern, Lynn and Alabama-Huntsville. The Sharks have series wins over two teams in the NCAA South Region poll after taking two of three games from Tampa and three of four games from Alabama-Huntsville.
In this year's format, the No. 2 seed will likely play the winner of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
The next NCAA South Region poll will be released next Wednesday, May 4
th.
