PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 5 Nova Southeastern University women's golf team took home the title, while two Sharks finished as the best on the individual leaderboard, as the 2016 NCAA South Super Regional wrapped at the Marcus Pointe Golf Club.

The Sharks' three-round total of 894 put them ahead of the two other automatic qualifiers for the upcoming NCAA National Championships, No. 1 Rollins (898) and No. 7 Saint Leo (902), and they led from beginning to end. After having the two lowest scores Monday and Tuesday, they finished just a stroke off the best final round tally and clinched the victory.

Sophomore Jamie Freedman (Miami Beach, Fla.) and freshman Aldana Foigel (Plottier, Argentina) topped the field of 66 by each carding a 218 total, with Freedman going 73-70-75 and Foigel 71-73-74, bettering a duo from Florida Tech and West Florida by two strokes. In a playoff, Freedman won on the second hole with a par to earn medalist honors.

Sophie Madden (Fr., Essex, England) was next for the Sharks, only one shot out of the top 10 with a 227 (76-75-76), in 13th alone. Michelle Ruiz (So., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) was 29th at 233, while Mailen Domecq Chantry (So., Mar del Plata, Argentina) had Wednesday's final counting score with a 79 and wrapped at 238.

The full quintet will advance to the NCAA National Championships, held just outside of Denver at the CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. Play will start on Wednesday, May 18, alongside 11 other team qualifiers, and continue through the next three days, with final results coming on May 21.
