SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team snatched one singles and two doubles All-American spots, adding on new achievements to its already successful season. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association published the official list of names on Thursday.
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) claimed her first national honors as a Shark, as both a singles and doubles All-American team. Boczova showcased her remarkable talents during her debut season. She started her junior season claiming the first Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors, playing an important role to the success of the team throughout the whole season and recording an unbeaten mark of 14-0 in No. 1 singles and a 12-5 record in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
The Slovakian junior was also selected as All-SSC First Team Singles and All-SSC Second Team Doubles, honored as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association 2015-16 South Region Player to Watch, won the prestigious NSU Female Athlete of The Year award, and garnered a CoSIDA Academic All-District award. Boczova concluded the 2015-16 season ranked by the ITA as the nation's second best singles player and sixth best doubles combination in DII alongside
Sabrina Kierberg (Jr., Munich, Germany). Also according to the ITA, she was slotted No. 1 in singles, while she and Kierberg were the No. 3 doubles pair, in their South Region rankings.
For a second year in a row,
Sabrina Kierberg is selected as an All-American team member, this season in the Doubles column. She matched the season best doubles record at 15-4 overall and 7-1 in conference, alternating partners between Boczova and
Petra Jurova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia). Kierberg had the most wins in No. 1 doubles with a 13-3 mark. In the No. 2 singles, she recorded an 8-7 mark overall and was 4-3 in conference. Her longest winning streaks included six back-to-back singles victories and 10 straight doubles wins.
At the end of the regular season, Kierberg was crowned as a Second Team Doubles All-SSC member, as the ITA's 25th best singles player in the nation as well as No. 6 in doubles alongside Boczova. She also closed the season as the ninth best singles and third best doubles team in the South Region by the ITA. During her junior year the German national became NSU's first All-American since 2011-12, as awarded by the ITA after her No. 16 final national singles ranking.
