FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Interim head coach
Devin Fay is proud to announce the addition of 11 incoming rowers to the 2016-17 Nova Southeastern University rowing season.
See below for information on each new individual to the program:

Kierra Bukaty / Riverview HS, Sarasota, Florida
Bukaty, in two seasons, was part of two championship-winning teams for the Sarasota Crew Club. Her 8+ won gold at both the 2015 and 2016 Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Championships.

Jessica Cavalier / Kearny HS, Kearny, New Jersey
Cavalier was a four-year rower and three-year varsity letter winner at Kearny, while earning the best weight-adjusted 2k erg time on her team each of her last three seasons. She also had the best 2k unweighted erg score during her senior year and won the team's Brian Piccolo award. In the Lightweight 4+, her squad took fourth place at Stotesbury in 2016 and, at she was third overall in the SRAA National Championship Grand Finals.

Abbey DiMatteo / Williams Memorial Institute, Killingworth, Connecticut
DiMatteo was a member of the swim team at WMI and rowed for Old Lyme/Lyme Rowing Club. She competed for them in the Women's Youth 4+ in 2015 in the Head of the Charles Regatta.

Cheyenne Doyle / Cedar Creek HS, Mullica Township, New Jersey
Doyle was a three-sport athlete, and rowed for three years at Cedar Creek. She helped the team earn a bronze medal in the novice eight at the Atlantic County Rowing Championships, and was a member of the Atlantic County Rowing Association club team, where she won a gold medal in the women's high school 2x race at the 2015 Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta.

Emily Edwards / Olympia HS, Orlando, Florida
Edwards was a four-year member of the Orlando Area Rowing Society, and was part of the Southeast Regional Championship-winning team in the third varsity 8+ her sophomore year.

Ariel McAffrey / Embers Homeschool Academy, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
McAffrey has two years of rowing experience under her belt, and has raced in the U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships twice, which included a fifth-place Grand Final finish in the Youth Lightweight 8+ in 2016. In addition, at the Dallas S.W.E.A.T. Indoor Erg Race, her team took first in the Junior Women's Lightweight Division, also in 2016. McAffrey was team captain her novice year of 2014-15.
Alexa Rae Meiers / Notre Dame Academy, Toledo, Ohio
For four years, Meiers coxed for coach Matthew Connolly at NDA. Highlights of her senior year of rowing include a fourth-place showing in the semifinals, while just missing the finals, in the Junior 8+ category at Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships, and a runner-up finish in the Junior 8+ finals at the St. Mary's Prep Laddie Cup.

Gabrielle Orr / Valhalla HS, White Plains, New York
Orr rowed for coach John Brisson at the Pelham Community Rowing Association, and she received the Scholar Athlete Award from her club crew.

Lilly Thompson / Mathews HS, Bohannon, Virginia
For four years, Thompson rowed for veteran coach Tim Ulsaker of both Mathews High and Mobjack Rowing Association. Her team finished fourth at the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships, and she for Mobjack, had a third-place finish in J16 4+ at Royal Canadian Henley 2014, and was a finalist in J18 2- at the same event.

Ayelen Vegas / Don Bosco HS, San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina
Vegas rowed for Tigre Boat Club, and has competed in multiple national regattas in pair, straight four and quad in Argentina.
