FORT LAUDERDALE – For the first time since 2010, the Nova Southeastern University men's and women's cross country teams sweep both men and women Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week awards.
Thomas Ingalls (Sr., St, George, Utah.) and
Allison Porter (Fr., Bolivar, Mo.) are the first pair of Shark runners to sweep the SSC weekly award since Alexandria Palm and Agustin Rey who swept the weekly awards on Sept. 20, 2010.
Ingalls receives his first ever SSC weekly honor after finishing first in the Division II race and eighth overall against Division I runners clocking in at 15:56.20 at the FAU Invitational.
Porter follows in the footsteps of her cousin and former Sharks runner Krystal Porter earning her first SSC weekly honor. Porter led on the women's side with a time of 19:41.80 finishing second overall in the Division II race and tenth overall against Division I runners.
"For us to win both weekly awards is amazing" Said head coach
Bryan Hagopian. "It is wonderful for Tommy because he has never been our top runner and it shows he can accomplish a lot his senior year. Allison is just like her cousin Krystal. She is a great runner. To win this award after her first collegiate race tells me she has a lot of potential."
The Sharks will be back in action Sept. 10 in Melbourne, Fla. for the SSC preview race.
