FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern track and field teams have released their schedule for the 2017 season.
"We are excited about the season," said head coach
Bryan Hagopian, "I am looking forward to our home meet, where we'll have more competition which is great for the athletes. I know there will be tough competition at Embry Riddle, and the University of Miami always has big name schools competing which has motivated the athletes to perform better. Florida Relays is one of the biggest competitions of the year, we see the best from Division I to NAIA. These competitions will prepare our athletes not only for the Peach Belt Conference, but for the National Championship."
NSU will open the season with a home meet and senior day at the Ansin Sports Complex on March 14.
Three days later, the Sharks will travel down I-95 to the University of Miami for the Hurricane Invitational on March 17 and 18. One week later, the Sharks will head north to Daytona Beach for the Sunshine State Invitational at Embry-Riddle on March 25.
To begin the month of April, the Sharks will compete at the Florida Relays, one of the nation's largest track and field competitions where many big name Division I schools, professionals and Olympians compete. Following the Florida Relays, the Sharks will compete in the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational from April 7-8.
The Sharks will then travel to Montevallo, Alabama from April 20-23 for the Peach Belt Conference Championship, hosted by the University of Montevallo. Both the men's and women's teams have claimed second place the last two years and will look to capture their first PBC Championships.
After the conference championship, the Sharks will compete in Greensboro, North Carolina on May 14 at the Aggie Last Chance Meet. Hosted by North Carolina A&T, the event will allow NSU the chance to qualify and prepare for the NCAA Division II National Championship held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida on May 25-27.
