Brown Presented with ABCA/Diamond National Coach of the Year Award

NSU head coach led club to national title in 2016

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Announced as the recipient of the ABCA/Diamond NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year back in July of 2016, Nova Southeastern head coach Greg Brown was presented with the prestigious award earlier this week while attending the 73rd annual ABCA Convention in Anaheim, California.

"I am thankful to my family, coaches, players, and administration for affording me the opportunity to be the leader of the NSU Baseball Program," said Brown. "This award is a culmination of a lot people's hard work and dedication. It is truly an honor to be the recipient of such a prestigious award."

Brown beat out seven additional regional coaches of the year to become the program's first-ever national coach of the year after guiding Nova Southeastern to new horizons in 2016. Following an 11-10 start to the year, Brown led his ball club to a 33-6 finish that included a NCAA South Region Tournament title before the Sharks eventually captured the school's very first NCAA Division II National Championship.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 8,200 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, the association's annual awards program has grown to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Division I, II, III, Pacific Association Division and High School.
