NSU Matches Highest Ranking in Program History

Sharks jump to No. 9 in national poll

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After running its current unbeaten streak to four matches a week ago, Nova Southeastern continued its ascension up the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II women's rankings, coming in at No. 9 in the latest poll. The Sharks' new ranking matches a program-best set last October.

The Sharks moved up from 13th thanks to quality showings on the road against a pair of regionally ranked opponents last week. In its 2-1 overtime win over Barry, Nova Southeastern overcame an early deficit before Sofia Del Stabile notched the golden goal in the 94th minute. Three days later, the Sharks leaned on two Emma Heikkila goals to earn a strong 2-2 draw at Florida Southern.

Running its record to 8-1-1 on the season, head coach John Constable's club remained firmly atop the South Region, ahead of Mississippi College and Lee.

Central Missouri switched places with Kutztown for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the country, followed by No. 3 Western Washington, No. 4 Grand Valley State and No. 5 Flagler.

NSU will return to the pitch tonight at 7 p.m. ET in the Battle of the Fish versus Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sharks defeated the Sailfish on the road 2-1 in overtime back on September 5.
