Five Sharks Named NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes

1,268 were Division II student-athletes were honored.

 
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Five members of the 2017 Nova Southeastern softball team earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-17 academic year. A record 7,351 players across seven membership divisions achieved the recognition for earning at least a 3.5 GPA. Of those, 1,268 were Division II student-athletes.
 
Earning a spot on the list for the Sharks were Mary Acosta, Samantha Gonzales, Megan Granitto, Alex Suzuki and Dakota Villella. These five also helped the team to a 3.30 GPA for the Winter 2017 semester.

Under the direction of head coach Julie LeMaire, the Sharks dramatically improved their overall season record from 12-39 in 2016 to 27-24 in 2017, placing two on All-Sunshine State Conference Teams. The Sharks eagerly await February 2018 to continue their success.
