MELBOURNE, Fla. – Jamie Freedman continued the stellar start to her senior season after claiming Sunshine State Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honors on Monday.
The Miami Beach, Florida native opened up the fall campaign with a bang last Tuesday, leading Nova Southeastern to the NCAA DII National Preview title while simultaneously taking home individual medalist honors. Throughout the 78-player field, Freedman finished as the only participant in red numbers, fending off Sarah Gee of Tarleton State with a score of one-under par. Following bogeys on three of the first four holes to begin Tuesday's final round, she righted the ship with a birdie on the Par-5 fifth before carding a bogey-free score of four under over the last 14 holes. In the tournament win, Freedman paced the field in both Par-3 (2.75) and Par-5 (4.50) scoring average, while her eight birdies were tied for most throughout the two days.
Freedman's individual championship marks the second of her NSU career, adding to her NCAA South Super Regional victory as a sophomore.
The Sharks will return to the links next Monday, October 9 as they host the GolfRank Invitational at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens. For live scoring throughout the tournament, visit the women's golf
