FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Former Nova Southeastern University women's basketball player
Danielle Robinson-Pratt signed her first overseas contract just one week into the Europrobasket One Month Woman's Program.
Pratt, a 2015 graduate, has signed with Senior Feminine Quimialmel Castellón CBC, part of Club Balonesto Castellón. The team is based out of Castellón de la Plana, Spain, but will also compete in Valencia, Spain.
"I am most excited to be a living testament of how dreams can come true and prayers can be answered when you get right with God, work hard, and persevere through the many obstacles you will face on the journey," explained Pratt when asked what she is most excited about with this opportunity. "Having a genuine support system and believing in myself no matter what gave me the opportunity to live out my dream."
A four-year letterman for the Sharks, Robinson-Pratt finished her standout career in the top five in nine different all-time statistical categories, including as the program's most prolific 3-point shooter (227) and leader in both games played and games started (125/123). She fell just 16 points shy of Jessica Pate's all-time scoring mark with 1,676, and ranks as the NCAA era leader in that statistic.
Along with her outstanding numbers, Robinson-Pratt picked up multiple awards during her NSU career. As a senior, she was named First Team All-SSC, Second Team All-South Region by Daktronics, Inc., MVP of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament and was also honored as a member of the NCAA All-South Region Tournament Team. As a sophomore, she was dubbed Co-Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-South Region Second Team by Daktronics, Inc. and was placed on the All-SSC Second Team. Robinson-Pratt made her mark on the women's basketball program early as freshman when she was named to the Women's Division II Bulletin All-America Freshman team and was selected as the SSC Freshman of the Year.
"Our program is extremely proud of Danielle for pursuing her dream of playing professional basketball. Nobody deserves this opportunity more than her," expressed NSU women's basketball head coach
LeAnn Freeland-Curry. "She was one of the most dedicated, competitive, and coachable players to ever wear a NSU women's basketball uniform, so I am confident she will find success playing for Senior Feminine Quimialmel Castellón CBC. We wish her the best as she enters this new phase of her basketball career."
"I want thank Coach Freeland and Coach K for seeing enough in me, even on a broken foot, to offer me a basketball scholarship so that I could achieve my first dream of playing college ball," Pratt expounded. "Secondly, my teammates past and present and the Nova Southeastern athletic and housing department as a whole for helping make this dream a reality.
