FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Capping his impressive Nova Southeastern career in rewarding fashion, senior
Harrison Goodrick was selected Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Goodrick earns the honor for the second consecutive season after finishing among the top-five in the league in scoring (16.8 ppg), rebounding (8.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (0.536).
During 2016-17, Goodrick left his imprint within the program's record books. Following seven double-doubles this season, the Sydney, Australia native moved into sole possession for the all-time category lead with 20 overall. In addition, Goodrick recorded the school's first-ever 30-point, 20-rebound performance, all while becoming the 13
th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point mark and just the fourth to record more than 600 career rebounds.
"Harrison was a warrior and the heart and soul of our team," said head coach
Gary Tuell. "He was the focus of every opponent's defensive game plan because people knew to beat us they had to do everything possible to contain Harrison. Harrison is the best center to play at NSU in my 13 years here, and it's just a shame we couldn't have had a better season or I'm sure he would have been a first-team selection. No one in the league had a better, more versatile big man at both ends of the floor than Harrison. He was a joy to coach, a great person and teammate and an exemplary student-athlete throughout his career here. I'm blessed to have had the opportunity and privilege to be his coach."
Barry's Elvar Fridriksson was picked as the SSC Player of the Year, while Buccaneers' head coach Butch Estes was named the league's coach of the year. Florida Southern's Jarel Spellman collected All-SSC Defensive Player of the Year, with Lynn's Marquan Botley landing SSC Newcomer of the Year and Rollins' Connor McKim picking up the SSC Freshman of the Year award.
