FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University women's tennis player
Simone Pratt was named Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the SSC office on Monday.
The Freeport, Bahamas native picks up her first SSC weekly accolade after her outstanding performance against Div. I program Toledo and No. 43 Tarleton State last week. As the No. 2 singles player, Pratt has put together a five-match winning streak after defeating Toledo's Colleen O'Brien, 6-2, 6-2 and shutting out Erika Preadca, 6-0, 6-0.
In No. 2 doubles, Pratt remains undefeated (9-0) with
Nastassia Rubel after holding on to defeat
Megan Miller and Mimi Kendall-Woseley from Toledo, 8-5, and then dominating Tarleton State's Erika Johnston and Tori Simmons, 8-1.
"I am proud of Simone for earning her first Athlete of the Week Award," said head coach
Doug Neagle. "She has performed so well over the last few matches and it comes from how hard she works in practice. Simone is a tough player and in singles and she plays well with Nastassia in doubles. I couldn't be happier for her."
The split week gives the Sharks a 5-4 record going into a tough match against No. 16 University of Indianapolis at the NSU Tennis Complex on Friday, Mar. 17 at 3:00 p.m.
