MELBOURNE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University Athletics remain in contention on both the men's and women's sides of the Sunshine State Conference Mayors' Cup standings following the fall and winter seasons, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Looking to keep the Cup in Fort Lauderdale for a second straight year, the Shark women's programs currently rank in third with 26.5 points, trailing only Tampa and leader Saint Leo. The men, meanwhile, sit in ninth with 12 points, but are just seven points behind first-place Tampa with baseball and golf still in the mix to help the Sharks make a move up the leaderboard.
"Coming off a special season for both of our swimming programs, as well as another great season for our women's basketball team, we expect to continue to compete at a high level this spring," said Director of Athletics
Michael Mominey. "Being in arguably the strongest and most competitive conference in the nation, it is no easy task to win the Mayors' Cup. Hopefully we'll be able to be in position to claim one or both Mayors' Cups this year when it's all said and done."
Winners of the SSC Mayors' Cup will be announced directly following the spring athletic season, in which baseball, softball, golf, tennis, lacrosse, and rowing will be scored.

About the Mayors' Cup
In an effort to further recognize the achievements of its student-athletes and member institutions, the Sunshine State Conference awards the institution in both men's and women's athletics that performs the greatest over the fall, winter, and spring sport seasons. The Mayors' Cup is awarded annually as a symbol of excellence in athletics over the conference's 18 championship sports.
Member institutions earn points for the finish of each varsity team in officially recognized conference sports. Teams receive points for final position in regular season standings (volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, softball and baseball) or in final championship standings (men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf and rowing).
