FORT LAUDERDALE – Nova Southeastern University men's golfer Richard Mansell was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the week ending March 19, 2017 as announced by the conference office on Monday.
 
Mansell's third award comes after a solid individual outing at the Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State March 12-14. He began the tournament with an opening round of 77 (+5), but came back to shoot two rounds under par with a 71 (-1) in the second and a 66 (-6) in the third to end with a three-round score of 214 (-2). He finished second overall as an individual out of a field of 93 despite adverse weather conditions throughout the entire tournament.
 
He also helped lead the NSU men's golf team to finish tied for seventh place out of 18 teams during the 2017 Southeastern Collegiate Classic. After finishing the first round in 13^th-place, Mansell helped the Sharks climb back into contention, which ended in a tie for seventh overall.
 
Of course, this award comes on the heels of Mansell being one of two Sunshine State Conference players that were selected to play in the 2017 Arnold Cup and the only Division II player selected to play for Team Europe.
 
The Sharks are currently competing in the Bobcat Invitational hosted at the Golf Club at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. Play ends on Tuesday, March 21.
