FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's basketball team and head coach
LeAnn Freeland-Curry have announced the signing of local standout guard Taylor Smith.
The 5-7 Plantation, Fla. native averaged 14 points, five rebounds and six steals during her senior year at American Heritage HS. During her final season, she was named to the 2017 All-Broward County Second Team from Sun Sentinel and earned the title of 2017 MVP of the Broward/Dade All Star Game. Smith was also named 2017 Defensive Player of the Year for American Heritage Girls Basketball. As a junior, she grabbed a spot on the 2016 First-Team All-Broward County from Sun Sentinel.
"Taylor helped lead American Heritage to a 27-3 overall record and an appearance in the championship game of the state tournament this past season," Freeland-Curry said. "She is a powerful, explosive guard who attacks the basket well and is a defensive stopper. Taylor creates a lot of her own shots from making plays on the defensive end and converting them in transition. Our coaching staff and players are excited to announce Taylor Smith is a Shark."
